About Lorraine...

Believing in better...

Lorraine is a qualified teacher with a subject specialism in English. She has 15 years, combined experience in Basic Skills English, Functional Skills English, and English Language/Literature GCSE, having taught in several colleges and schools throughout the North West, in the UK, from Key Stage 3-4, to post - 16. Her approach is to first establish the student's subject knowledge, challenges, and commitment to achieving their goals. Her methodology includes, questioning, group work, interactive tasks, discussions, set tasks, handouts, power points, past papers, quizzes, explanations, formative and summative assessments. She has a PGCE in FE & HE, QTLS, a degree in Education 2:1, a MA in Development Studies, and an ESOL level 4 specialism.

    In this course you will learn the various purposes of text; the language features/techniques employed by writers to communicate their purpose and the importance of the audience

  • How to Answer Exam Type Questions

    You will also learn how to identify language features in text, while structuring your response to P1 Q2, Q3 and P2 Q3, to demonstrate your analytical and perceptive skills using PEE or other similar methods

  • Structural Features

    In this course you will develop the skills and knowledge to identify structural features in text, followed by knowledge application to skilfully respond to P1 Q3 exam type questions using PEE or similar explanatory methods
